          Matthiesens Ausbildung zum Schauspieler erfolgte zwischen und am Mozarteum in Salzburg sowie an der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart.[1] Als Theaterschauspieler war Matthiesen unter anderem viele Jahre am Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf[2] sowie auch am Staatstheater Mainz zu sehen.[3]

          Artus Maria Matthiesen spielte in den er-Jahren in zwei Tatort-Filmen als junger Polizeibeamter und übernahm eine kleine Rolle als SS-Kommandant im oscarprämierten Klassiker Schindlers Liste von Steven Spielberg.
